Welcome to my Study Abroad Blog!

Hello,

My name is Amy Stumpf, I am a soon to be senior at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR.  I am a student in the Walton College of Business pursuing a degree in Human Resource Management and Accounting.  I am traveling to Rome with the University of Arkansas Rome Campus.  I will be there for four weeks taking an elementary Italian class as well as an Italian culture class.

I would like to work in Human Resources after graduating which is one of the reasons behind why I chose this program. When people think about Human Resources the first thing that comes to mind is working with other people. Traveling to Italy will expose me to a whole new culture, and I will have the opportunity to meet and develop relationships with new people. The ability to be comfortable around and converse with others, especially those of varied backgrounds, is a great skill to have and can only improve with experience and exposure. Studying abroad will make me feel more confident going into my future. I think there is only so much I can read in a textbook, some things I need to see first hand to understand and grasp the concept. That is how I came to the conclusion that studying abroad and more specifically, this program in Rome, would be the perfect fit for me.

I am very fortunate that this experience was made possible by receiving the Center for Retailing Excellence (CRE) Study Abroad Scholarship administered by the Sam M. Walton College Global Engagement Office. As well as support and encouragement from my family and friends.

Happy Reading!

Amy
